| Speak From Within A Masterclass in Acting by Nelson Chia |
NYT aspires to tell stories through performance that remind us of our humanity. To achieve this, we expect actors not only to be skilled in their technique but also to be genuine on stage. This means understanding the source of their “dramatic actions” on stage – what drives the characters and what moves the audience? Under Nelson Chia's guidance, this class aims to explore acting concepts and techniques that enable actors to delve deeper into the inner worlds of characters, using the study and performance of scenes from selected plays. |
| DIRECTING THE SCENE: Master Class in Directing | Artistic director of Nine Years Theatre, Nelson Chia, conducts this master class. It aims to share knowledge that will help in understanding the elements that make up a scene, and skills needed in making a scene work. This is a largely hands-on class that requires participants to work with actors on the rehearsal floor in directing exercises. |
